How It Works

From application to funded, in five steps.

The same process applies whether you're applying for angel investment or a business loan — only the reviewer and the terms differ.

01

Apply

Day 1

Complete the application with details on your business, the amount you're seeking, and what the capital is for. It takes about ten minutes, and there's no application fee for either funding path.

  • Choose angel investment, a business loan, or "not sure" if you want AIC to advise
  • Basic company and financial information — no formal financials required yet
02

Initial review

Days 2–3

A named reviewer — Adaeze's team for equity, David's team for loans — reads the application and decides whether to move to full diligence. You'll hear back either way.

03

Diligence & founder call

Days 3–7

If it's a fit, we'll request supporting documents and schedule a call to walk through the business, the plan, and any open questions.

  • Most applicants only need one follow-up call
  • You can ask us anything about our terms during this stage — nothing is finalized yet
04

Offer or term sheet

Days 7–10

You'll receive terms in writing — a loan structure and rate, or investment terms and valuation — written in plain language, with room to negotiate before anything is signed.

05

Funding

Days 10–14

Once terms are signed, funds are released on the agreed schedule — typically a lump sum for loans under $250,000, and tranche-based for larger loans or investment rounds.

06

Ongoing partnership

Beyond

Loan clients get a dedicated account contact for the life of the loan. Equity partners get quarterly strategy reviews and ongoing access to AIC's operating and advisory network.

Before you apply

What to have ready.

You don't need all of this on day one — but having it ready speeds up diligence considerably.

Common questions

A few things applicants usually ask.

No. Applying is free for both angel investment and business loans, and there's no obligation to accept any offer you receive.

Select "not sure — advise me" on the application. Your reviewer will recommend a path based on your business and explain why before any terms are discussed.

You'll get a clear explanation of why, and where possible, guidance on what would change the answer if you reapply later.
